A milestone in the history of Los Angeles paramedics will be achieved with a ceremony marking the Paramedic Training Institute’s 100th graduation at 10 a.m. Monday at the Music Center’s Ahmanson Theatre.
Beginning with six Los Angeles County firefighters in 1969, more than 2,200 paramedics have taken their medical skills out into the community.
Four people who provided leadership in pioneering the paramedic program will be recognized during the ceremonies. They are Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, Dr. J. Michael Criley and Dr. Walter S. Graf. The late Robert A. Cinader, creator and producer of the television program “Emergency,” which was based on the county’s paramedic program, will be honored in memoriam.
