In what may be the first of a series of new joint ventures with health maintainence organizations and indemnity insurance companies, Newport Beach-based Caremark announced Tuesday that it will provide home care to members of the United HealthCare Corp. health maintenance organization. With just over 1 million members, Minneapolis-based United is one of the nation’s largest publicly held HMOs.

Officials of both companies declined to disclose terms of the deal. But David Koppe, United’s treasurer, described his company’s capital investment as “minimal.”
