A liberal lobbying group said it found 130 incidents in which attempts were made to censor books, films and curricula in schools and libraries during the 1985-86 academic year. The People for the American Way, founded by television producer Norman Lear, said the incidents represented a 35% increase over a year earlier, and more than double the number of incidents that the group found in its first censorship survey, conducted four years ago.
