Driesell Gets a Vote of Confidence at Maryland

Maryland basketball Coach Lefty Driesell, cleared of a possible criminal indictment by a grand jury investigating the cocaine-induced of star player Len Bias, won a renewed pledge of support Wednesday from the university.

“He’s still our coach, and rightly so,” said Dick Dull, Maryland Athletic Director. “I haven’t wavered in my support of him throughout this experience. I never thought Lefty engaged in criminal conduct, and I think that was evident to the grand jury.”

University officials will meet next month, after the grand jury ends its investigation, to consider action against Driesell, Dull said.
