A South Bay man was killed when his car collided with another that had apparently run a red light early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Nydo, 24, of the Bonita area was headed west on Central Avenue at 6:26 a.m. when he slammed into the passenger’s side of a vehicle going north on County 17. The northbound car, driven by Scott Clough, 18, also of Bonita, apparently ran a red light, a CHP spokeswoman said.

Upon impact, Nydo’s car rolled onto the driver’s side of Clough’s car. Nydo was pinned and partially ejected, the spokeswoman said. In a chain reaction, Clough’s car then hit a pickup truck driven by Dorian Hubbard, 34, of El Cajon.

Nydo was pronounced dead at the scene and Clough was taken to Bay Hospital Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, the CHP said. Hubbard was not injured.
