President Reagan in a Labor Day tribute called America’s workers its greatest resource and said they “can have faith in the future” because of a healthy economy and enactment of a major tax overhaul that will fuel production of more jobs. The President, in his weekly radio address, delivered from his ranch near Santa Barbara, said the nation has enjoyed 45 months of economic expansion, witnessed the creation of 10.5 million jobs and trimmed inflation to its lowest rate in more than 20 years. Reagan made no mention of gloomy economic news, but he did say that farmers and some sectors of industry have not enjoyed prosperity.
