SDSU Beats Fullerton in ’86 Soccer Opener

Freshman Pete Klaas scored two second-half goals to help the San Diego State soccer team defeat Cal State Fullerton, 6-1, in the nonconference season opener for both teams Saturday night in the Aztec Bowl on the SDSU campus.

The Aztecs took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by senior Tim Homan and sophomore Kyle Whittemore. The Titans cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by junior Tom Atencio 20 minutes into the second half.

Senior Ted Wacker scored one minute later, and Klaas added his two goals to put the Aztecs in control. Ken Gunn, a junior transfer from UC Irvine, scored the final goal for the Aztecs in the final minute.
