Vie de France, a McLean, Va., company that markets French breads and croissants nationwide, named Richard J. Sharoff president and chief operating officer.

Sharoff, whose appointment is effective immediately, joins Vie de France from the Kitchens of Sara Lee, a subsidiary of Sara Lee Corp. He had been senior vice president and general manager of the retail division there.

Sharoff succeeds Lloyd J. Faul, whose employment contract was terminated May 23. He continued as a board member until Aug. 28.
