A retired firefighter who stopped at a motorcycle accident scene in Tustin to offer medical assistance found his 20-year-old son dead from massive head injuries, police said. Robert William Ward, 20, of Irvine was driving east on Moulton Parkway when he passed a car and lost control of his motorcycle, which reportedly ran off the road at more than 55 m.p.h. and struck a steel fence post, police said. The victim’s father, William Ward, 42, was driving to his Tustin home when he “came along within several minutes after the crash,” Police Sgt. Mike Shanahan said. “He just happened by and saw officers on the side of the road. He stopped because he thought he could be of help because the paramedics were not there yet.”
