A British delegation announced Thursday that it will attend the 76th conference of the 105-nation Inter-Parliamentary Union in Argentina next month.

Britain and Argentina broke diplomatic relations after Argentine troops invaded the Falklands Islands, a South Atlantic British colony, in 1982. A British naval force recaptured the islands in a 74-day war.

The British delegation will be made up of five legislators from Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative Party and four from the opposition Labor Party.

Argentina rejoined the Inter-Parliamentary Union, an association that promotes contacts between parliaments, in 1984 after seven years of military dictatorship. The conference will take place in Buenos Aires from Oct. 6 to 12.
