The Major League Baseball Players Assn. filed a grievance with the commissioner Peter Ueberroth’s office, hoping to revoke the suspension imposed by the San Diego Padres on relief pitcher Goose Gossage.
The players association had planned to file the grievance on Wednesday, but because a hearing in the grievance concerning arbitrator Thomas Roberts lasted until 9 p.m. Wednesday, the organization was unable to officially lodge the complaint, counsel Gene Orza said.
