Boy Drowns at Home of UCI Instructor
A 2 1/2-year-old boy from South Africa, whose family was visiting a UC Irvine faculty member, drowned Friday afternoon in an outdoor spa at the faculty member’s home, a campus official said.
The Orange County coroner’s office identified the boy as Grahm Hart, of Johannesburg.
The boy’s mother, Adele Hart, thought he was in the house, according to UC Irvine public information officer Elaine Beno.
Resuscitation efforts at Health Care Medical Center (formerly Tustin Community Hospital) were unsuccessful, and the boy was pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m., officials said.
