An East San Diego man, who was found lying on the roadside of University Avenue west of 44th Street on Thursday night, has died of multiple stab wounds, the coroner’s office said.
Police found James Dillon Barnes, 26, with severe stab wounds to his chest, a San Diego police spokesman said. Barnes was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he later died of his wounds.
According to police, Barnes apparently was stabbed during an altercation with a group of men.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
