Ground has been broken in the Harbor Technology Center for a $30-million, 340-room Holiday Inn hotel that C. Wilson Viar Jr., Holiday Inns regional vice president, said will be “a prototype of a very new and dynamic hotel.”
The hotel is a joint venture of Holiday Inns Inc. and C. Itoh America Inc., a Japanese trading corporation based in Tokyo with offices in New York and Los Angeles. The Technology Center is in the southwest quadrant of the intersection of the San Diego (405) and Harbor (110) freeways.
The new hotel, scheduled for completion in the fall of 1987, will have meeting rooms for more than 400 people, food service for 240 and exercise facilities. There are 75 Holiday Inns in Southern California and 16 more in the process of approval or construction.
