Rockets to Face Celtics in Exhibition
NEW YORK — The Houston Rockets get their first crack at revenge against the champion Boston Celtics as part of the NBA’s 89-game exhibition season schedule released Wednesday by the league.
The Rockets and Celtics, who met in the championship series last season, will renew their rivalry with two games next month. The first game will be at the Hartford Civic Center, Oct. 17, while the Rockets host the second game, Oct. 25, at the Summit in Houston.
Dallas and San Antonio open the exhibition season Oct. 7 at Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Detroit Pistons will host two preseason games in Canada, taking on Cleveland Oct. 10 at Windsor, Ontario, and New York Oct. 26 at Hamilton, Ontario.
Madison Square Garden will be the site of two exhibition double-headers. Houston plays Washington and the Los Angeles Lakers play New York Oct. 21, while the Knicks host Golden State after the New Jersey-Detroit game, Oct. 25.
The regular season opens Oct. 31 with nine games.
