UCI Fourth in Volleyball Tournament
The UC Irvine women’s volleyball team lost to Penn State and Pittsburgh Saturday to finish fourth in the Villanova Tournament in Philadelphia.
The Anteaters lost to the tournament’s eventual winner, Penn State, 4-15, 12-15, 5-15, and to Pittsburgh, which finished second, 15-13, 11-15, 9-15, 9-15. Providence finished third and Villanova fifth.
Against the Nittany Lions, UCI’s Sue Olszewski had 10 kills, Allison Wood had seven kills and Kris Roberts had six blocks. Against the Panthers, Olszewski and Roberts each had 11 kills, and Roberts set a school record with 11 blocks.
One of Irvine’s top players, Dana Parker, did not play in either game as she has a slight ligament strain.
