Light Quake Rocks Desert Area
A minor earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale shook buildings in Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs this morning, but officials said there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The 9:22 a.m. temblor, centered nine miles north of Palm Springs, was one of a series of aftershocks from a July 8 earthquake centered in the same area, which registered 6.0 on the Richter scale. Melissa Robertson, police dispatcher in Desert Hot Springs, said today’s aftershock “shook the building, but it wasn’t bad.”
