Britain’s Dennis Andries retained his World Boxing Council light heavyweight championship when he stopped countryman Tony Sibson in the ninth round of their scheduled 12-round bout at London. Andries was well ahead on points when he floored the challenger three times in the ninth round.
Sibson’s cornermen were ready to throw in the towel when referee Sid Nathan halted the fight with the challenger back on his feet but dazed.
