An expert testified last week that a proposed high-rise parking structure at Angel Stadium would not deter baseball fans.

William A. Cunningham, former president of the International Assn. of Auditorium Mangers, testified for Anaheim as the city prepared to wrap up its case in a $100-million lawsuit filed by the parent company of the Angels.

The Angels are alleging that if Anaheim allows a high-rise office tower and parking structure on 68 acres of the stadium parking lot, fans will start staying home.

Not so, testified Cunningham, who managed Oakland Coliseum in Oakland for 16 years. “If they want to get to a ballgame, they (the fans) will,” he said. “I really can’t believe that would be any kind of problem.”
