Two cars of Amtrak’s eight-car California Zephyr derailed moments after departing the Oakland station, but none of the 99 passengers was hurt, officials said. John Jacobs, an Amtrak spokesman, said one employee asked to see a doctor, but his injury was not believed to be serious. Jacobs said the crew car and a sleeping car each derailed one wheel as the train was moving at 15 or 20 m.p.h. The two cars were removed from the train, which then went on to Salt Lake City on its way to Chicago, Jacobs said.
