San Diego Volleyball : UC San Diego Wins a Close One on the Road

The UC San Diego women’s volleyball team, with 20 kills and 15 digs by Lori Luhnow, narrowly defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Tuesday, 3-2, on the last match of a 14-day trip through the Midwest.

UCSD (10-1) won the nonconference match, 12-15, 16-14, 15-8, 12-15, 15-10.

Jennifer Pettigrew of La Jolla High added 12 kills and senior setter Kim Stonecipher had 64 assists. Wisconsin is 7-3.

Lisa VanderFeer had 19 kills and four aces to pace Point Loma Nazerene (1-0) to a 15-13, 15-9, 17-15 nonconference victory over Occidental College at San Diego. In the first game, VanderFeer snapped a 13-13 tie with two consecutive aces for the win. Occidental is 1-3.

UC Irvine easily beat the University of San Diego, 15-10, 15-10, 15-2, in a nonconference match in Irvine. USD is 0-5. Irvine is 4-7.
