Mixed-Doubles Tennis Matches Begin Tonight

The $100,000 Ford-Sports Tennis Championships open tonight at 6:30 at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club with Virginia Wade and Vitas Gerulaitis paired against Anne Smith and Raul Ramirez.
Bonnie Gadusek and Dick Stockton meet Jaime Fillol and Anne White in the other match.
The quarterfinals of the four-day, single-elimination tournament continue Friday at 7:30 p.m. with Robin White and Ilie Nastase meeting Melissa Gurney and Trey Waltke in the first match, followed by Joanne Russell and Stan Smith against Peanut Louie Harper and Jose Higueras.
Semifinals begin Saturday at 1 p.m. and the final, with $20,000 going to the winning team, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m.
