Eight dehydrated seals cut off from the sea by a surging glacier were returned to the ocean by rescuers who hope also to save porpoises stranded in a lake since spring. A dead seal was spotted near Yakutat, Alaska, on the half-mile dam of dirt and rock formed by the glacier, prompting workers to clamber up and haul the other seals to the ocean side of the barrier.
