Parking for Angels Fans

Share

Multilevel parking would not serve as a deterrent to “Big A” patrons? This conclusion was offered by the stadium expert (Mr. William A. Cunningham) on behalf of the City of Anaheim in their feud with the Angels (Sept. 11).

Yeah, sure. The introduction of a behemoth industrial and parking structure at Anaheim Stadium will most certainly turn the casual fan into an endangered species. Even during the off-season, many of us spend a couple of hours in parking lots almost every day. In Southern California, they’re referred to as “freeways.” If you randomly polled some fans at an Angels game, accessibility and ease of entry/exit would be right up there as reasons for return visits. (A winning team sure helps, too.) Our area offers too many other diversions for the stadium not to offer every accommodation. A concrete labyrinth wouldn’t be one of them.

We want to avoid the Chavez Syndrome--you know, where only the middle five innings of a ballgame are seen by anyone other than media types. Wise up, Anaheim!
