Marvin Johnson stopped Jean-Marie Emebe of Cameroon at 1:41 of the 13th round at Indianapolis to retain the World Boxing Assn. light-heavyweight title in his first defense since he became champion last February.
Referee Louis Rivera stopped the fight at Market Square Arena because Emebe’s puffed eyes prevented him from seeing.
Johnson, fighting before hometown fans, raised his record to 43-5. Emebe fell to 24-3.
