The Region : Pedestrian Fatally Hit in Westminster
A 45-year-old Stanton man who was walking across Beach Boulevard in Westminster in an area not designated as a crosswalk was fatally injured when struck by a car, Westminster police reported. The victim, Richard Joseph Sandberg, was crossing Beach Boulevard between 18th Street and Westminster Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. Sgt. Steve Martinez said Sandberg was struck by a southbound car. Sandberg was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m., Martinez said. No citations was issued, Martinez said, but the investigation is continuing. Martinez said that although a light rain was falling there was no immediate indication that the accident was weather-related.
