The Lakers, who are limited by their own large salaries and the NBA’s salary cap system, are seriously considering making a bid for 6-10 free agent Frank Brickowski.

Brickowski, 6-10 and 240 pounds, played in only 40 games for the Seattle SuperSonics last season because of a broken wrist. He averaged only two points a game. Brickowski’s best season in Seattle was 1984-85, when he averaged 4.9 points. He played in college at Penn State.

Laker General Manager Jerry West confirmed that there have been discussions about Brickowski, 27. The Lakers either would have to tender an offer sheet to Brickowski or work out a trade with Seattle after the SuperSonics resign him.
