L.A. Drivers May Be Cruising for a $100 Bruising
Cruisers who tie up traffic along Los Angeles streets will be slapped with citations if they pass the same point more than three times in two hours, the City Council tentatively decided today.
The anti-cruising ordinance, which won the council’s unanimous approval, calls for a $100 fine for a first offense and increasing penalties for subsequent citations, the city attorney’s office said. The ordinance requires another vote next week before final passage.
Drivers could be cited only after the Police Department declares an area congested, posts signs describing the penalties and issues written warnings to drivers, the ordinance said.
