FAA to Suspend Pilot’s License
The Federal Aviation Administration said today that it plans to suspend for six months the pilot’s license of a Buena Park man whose alleged violation of restricted airspace on Aug. 31 may have distracted an air traffic controller moments before an Aeromexico jetliner and a single-engine plane collided over Cerritos, killing 81 people.
Private pilot Roland Paul Vickers Furman, 55, was sent a “notice of proposed certificate action” by FAA attorneys in Los Angeles. He has 15 days to respond to charges that he entered the “terminal control area” east of Los Angeles International Airport without prior authorization.
