Costa Mesa : Traffic Barriers Slated on Residential Streets

Share

Prompted by complaints from residents about cars speeding through their neighborhood, city officials will place traffic barriers on roads near Victoria and West 19th streets in the southwestern area of the city.

Beginning Monday, motorists will find concrete barricades erected at Monrovia Avenue and 20th Street, at Continental Avenue and Oak Street and on Federal Avenue, just north of Oak Street, said Rock E. Miller, transportation services engineer for the city.

The aim, said Miller, is to “preserve the tranquility of the local neighborhood.”

So, drivers who have been crisscrossing neighborhood streets to avoid backed-up traffic as they try to get from Victoria Street to 19th Street, now will be forced to take Placentia and Pomona avenues.
