UCLA Women Advance in Volleyball Meet

Junior outside hitter Wendy Fletcher recorded 19 spikes in leading UCLA to a 15-7, 15-10, 15-11 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the quarterfinals of the UCLA National Invitational volleyball tournament Friday night at Pauley Pavilion.

In other quarterfinal matches, Hawaii beat Pepperdine, 16-14, 15-13, 15-2; Pacific defeated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 15-6, 15-8, 15-11, and BYU beat Cal State Long Beach, 14-16, 15-3, 15-10, 10-15, 15-3.

The Bruins, ranked fourth nationally, will play Hawaii in one semifinal game today. Pacifc will play BYU in the other semifinal. Both semifinal games are at 11 a.m. today at Pauley Pavilion.
