Some of Orange County’s youngsters were on their toes Tuesday.

The occasion was the audition at the Orange County Performing Arts Center for a chance to appear with the New York City Ballet when it appears at the Center this month.

A total of 198 children, between the ages of 9 and 13, auditioned for the 13 parts.

Malcolm Loundway, 9, was one of the boys selected to perform. He celebrated by exchanging handshakes and high fives with other boys who were picked.

“I want to be veterinarian,” the fourth-grader said. “And a ballet dancer on the side.”
