An earthquake registering 3.7 on the Richter scale shook the coastal area 24 miles northwest of Santa Rosa, state officials said. No damage or injuries were reported but some residents of the lightly populated area reported “a loud boom and the earth shaking,” a Sonoma County sheriff’s dispatcher said. It was the second temblor in the 3.5 range in the San Francisco Bay Area in less than 24 hours. A 3.8 quake, described as “moderate,” was felt in the Bay Area Friday night. It was centered in eastern Alameda County about 80 miles southeast of the epicenter of the latest quake.
