Irvine : City Bans Sale and Use of Fireworks in 4-1 Vote

The City Council has become the seventh in Orange County to ban the sale and use of all kinds of fireworks.
On a 4-1 vote, with Councilman David Baker opposing, the council approved Tuesday night a second reading of an ordinance limiting fireworks within the city limits to approved public displays. The law becomes effective in 30 days.
Other cities that have adopted such fireworks bans include Brea, Laguna Beach, La Habra, Newport Beach, Seal Beach and Tustin.
