Santa Monica : Campus Parking Study

Share

The Santa Monica College Board of Trustees has created a 19-member committee to study campus parking problems and has asked it to recommend specific proposals by March.

The college has about 1,600 spaces but needs at least 600 more to alleviate parking congestion in the neighborhood, officials said.

The trustees said proposals must have the votes of at least 10 members of the committee to be recommended to the board. Such proposals must be submitted to a public hearing.

The panel will consist of an appointee of each of the seven college trustees and the student trustee; one each selected by the Academic Senate president, the Classified Employees Forum and college President Richard Moore; two chosen by the president of the college advisory board; two from the Santa Monica city staff and four selected by neighbors who have served on previous parking committees.
