The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint a retired U.S. postal worker to the Planning Commission.
Russell Latimer, a Santa Monica resident for 38 years, was selected to complete the term of Edward Kirshner, who resigned in September. The term expires in June, 1987.
Latimer has served as board member of the nonprofit Neighbor Research and Development organization, the Pico Neighborhood Assn. and the New Start Drug Abuse Program.
Mayor Christine E. Reed called Latimer “a concerned individual who will bring caring and common sense to the commission.”
