A woman accused of throwing her 4-month-old daughter into the San Diego Bay last month pleaded innocent Thursday to a murder charge.
Lorenza Juanita Penguelly, 26, of Golden Hill was ordered held without bail in Las Colinas County Jail by San Diego Municipal Judge Charles Hayes.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Paul Burakoff said the baby, Sharai Penguelly, died by drowning but declined to discuss the case.
Penguelly appeared before Hayes with chains around her waist for security purposes and had a Spanish-speaking interpreter beside her.
