Youth Killed as Dune Buggy Flips Over
A 17-year-old youth was fatally injured when his dune buggy struck a curb in Anaheim Hills and flipped over.
John Herrell of Orange was pronounced dead of major internal injuries at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Anaheim Police Lt. Marc Hedgpeth said Herrell, who was the only casualty in the single-vehicle accident, had been northbound on Westridge Circle at “too high a rate of speed” when he attempted to turn left onto Westridge Road and struck the curb at about 10:50 a.m. Friday. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was transported by helicopter to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:53 a.m.
