A 12-year-old boy died in Lexington, Ky. of a gunshot wound that authorities said was inflicted by a sixth-grade classmate. Keich Newby of Versailles, who was wounded after a football game in Versailles, died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Another 12-year-old, whose name was withheld, was charged with first-degree assault in connection with the shooting and released to the custody of his grandparents, said Woodford County Police Detective Ernest Shipp. He said a .38-caliber weapon was found at the scene and that several other youngsters present when the shooting occurred would be interviewed.
