Two South African black men were burned to death by fellow blacks in political violence and a former beauty queen was hacked to death in the black township of Soweto, authorities said. The government Bureau for Information said the two unidentified men were victims of “necklace” executions--with gasoline-soaked tires set ablaze around their necks. Masabatha Loate, 29, a former beauty queen and black student activist, was hacked to death by about 20 black youths, police said. Her mother said she may have been killed because she favored nonviolence in opposing apartheid.
