Martina Navratilova took just 66 minutes to beat Hana Mandlikova of Czechoslovakia, 6-2, 6-3, in the final of the $175,000 Porsche Grand Prix tournament Sunday at Filderstadt, West Germany.

It was Navratilova’s 1,004th career victory and it came one day after her 30th birthday.

It was also the third time Navratilova has won this tournament. She previously won in 1982 and 1983. In addition to the first prize of $32,000, Navratilova received a new car.

Mandlikova, who once was a ball girl for Navratilova in their native city of Prague, was hampered by strained stomach muscles and she could not gather the strength needed to challenge Navratilova.

In the doubles final, Navratilova and partner Pam Shriver defeated Zina Garrison and Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina, 7-6, 6-4.

In the final of the $175,000 Swiss Indoor tournament at Basel, Switzerland, top-seeded Stefan Edberg of Sweden outlasted Yannick Noah of France, 7-6, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.

Edberg, ranked No. 4 in the world, took 3 1/2 hours to win the tournament for the second year in a row.

Noah, who was seeded second and who has never beaten Edberg, showed no effects of a seven-week layoff because of an injured knee.

But the 26-year-old Frenchman, who lost his serve twice in losing the first-set tiebreaker, 7-5, couldn’t overcome his own mistakes and Edberg’s serve in the second set.

Noah rebounded to win the third set, but lost a tiebreaker in the fourth after neither player managed more than a one-game lead.

“I had my ups and downs, and that is not surprising considering this was only the 10th match I played in six months,” Noah said. “Actually, two weeks ago I could barely walk.”
