Local News in Brief : 2 Guardian Angels Shot At in Sepulveda
Los Angeles police are investigating an incident Sunday night in which several shots were fired at two members of the Guardian Angels anti-crime group as they patrolled a Sepulveda neighborhood known as a center of illegal drug sales.
Richard Batson, 19, of Chatsworth, was grazed in his ankle by a small-caliber bullet fired at about 10 p.m. Sunday, Detective Sherry Santor said Thursday. The other Guardian Angel, Dan Flock, 16, of Canoga Park, was not injured, she said.
The pair were patrolling the 8900 block of Langdon Avenue with Marc Sabga, president of the San Fernando Valley chapter of Guardian Angels, Santor said.
She said there have been no arrests and that no suspects have been found. It was the first known incident of violence involving the Angels’ Valley chapter, Santor said.
The area of Langdon Avenue between Lanark and Tupper streets is the scene of frequent drug deals and assaults and is patrolled heavily by police, she said.
