Driver Dies as Car Plunges 50 Feet
A 28-year-old Canyon Country man died Friday when his car plunged down a 50-foot embankment after he tried to pass another car at 70 m.p.h. on the Antelope Valley Freeway in Canyon Country, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The accident occurred at 4:10 p.m. just south of Soledad Canyon Road, said Officer Vivian Munoz. She said the man’s car changed lanes in front of a car driven at 55 m.p.h. by a Canoga Park woman, Wanda Dean, 28, also forcing Dean’s car down the embankment.
