Share

A brochure on nuclear emergency procedures is being mailed to 50,000 residents and businesses in South Orange County by the Southern California Edison Co.

The 16-page booklet, entitled “New Directions,” is being sent to residents of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach and Dana Point. Those residents, all within 10 to 12 miles of the San Onofre nuclear generating station, are inside the station’s emergency planning zone, said Ken Bellis, Southern California Edison spokesman.

Printed annually for the last five years, the brochure tells residents what radio and television stations to tune to in the event of a nuclear emergency, describes nuclear power plants and offers facts about radiation.
