An 18-year-old Fullerton man was arrested early Sunday after ramming the car of an undercover detective with a stolen car, then leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in Anaheim, authorities said.

Police Lt. Stu Finkelstein said that Sgt. Kevin Raney, 29, was patrolling for prostitutes at the intersection of Sycamore Street and Acacia Avenue at 12:30 a.m. when he spotted a man driving a Mazda sports car in a reckless manner.

The driver--identified as David Louis Fritzemeier, 18, of Fullerton--then allegedly rammed Raney’s unmarked police car, pinning the police officer inside the vehicle. Raney was only slightly injured.

Finkelstein said Fritzemeier then sped away with police in pursuit. The chase, which reached speeds of 100 m.p.h., ended when the sports car hit a parked car at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Santa Ana Boulevard in Anaheim.

Finkelstein said the Mazda, which had been reported stolen from Los Angeles, was destroyed. Neither Fritzemeier nor a 17-year-old youth riding with him in the sports car were injured.

Fritzemeier was booked into the County Jail on suspicion of assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property and reckless driving. Bail was set at $10,000.

The 17-year-old boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, was taken to Juvenile Hall, police said.
