A judge denied a request by McMartin Pre-School molestation case defendant Raymond Buckey to be transferred to a safer location in County Jail because of alleged physical attacks and proximity to jail house informants. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roger W. Boren refused to “interfere with the operation” of the jail, saying the Sheriff’s Department “has not been derelict” in its care of Buckey. Buckey was moved several months ago from a private jail hospital room to a unit of single cells, called “high power,” for inmates who are especially dangerous or who need protection from other inmates. Since then, he claims, he has been kicked by an inmate and hit with urine and fecal matter thrown by prisoners. Buckey and his mother, Peggy McMartin Buckey, go on trial Nov. 25 on 101 counts of molestation and conspiracy involving pupils at the Manhattan Beach school.
