A preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 10 in Riverside Municipal Court to determine whether Elyse Joyce Ricker, 40, should face trial for kidnaping a 3-week-old baby girl who was taken at gunpoint from her mother, Sharon Howard, 31, at the Howard home. An automatic plea of innocent was entered on Ricker’s behalf by Municipal Judge Ronald L. Taylor because she did not yet have an attorney. The woman’s husband, Timothy Wayne Ricker, 24, is being held for alleged parole violation, but has not been charged in the kidnaping.
