Hermosa Beach : Open-Space Rezonings
After a lengthy public hearing, the City Council voted 4 to 0 this week to rezone five areas to bring them into conformance with the city’s General Plan as required by law.
Ingleside, Seaview and 8th and Valley parks were rezoned as open-space areas. A section bordered by Ardmore Avenue, 2nd and Hill streets and the Santa Fe Railway tracks was changed from manufacturing to single-family residential.
An area bordered by Valley Drive, 2nd Street and the rear of lots facing Culper Court was rezoned from multiple-family residential to two-family residential.
The council also redesignated three areas in the General Plan to conform with zoning laws. Mayor Tony DeBellis did not take part in the discussions because he owns property in one of the areas.
Three other areas were considered for zoning changes and one for redesignation, but the council did not take action on those.
