Driverless Tanker Truck Spills Gas

Share

A tanker truck rolled into an excavation ditch in Van Nuys Tuesday night and overturned, spilling about a third of its 9,000 gallons of gasoline, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The unoccupied truck, which had been parked near the Mobil gas station at 7214 Sepulveda Blvd., rolled into the ditch about 10:18 p.m., said department spokesman Jim Williamson. There were no injuries or evacuations, he said, and the company that owns the truck was called in to vacuum the fuel.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
