Newport Beach : GOP Office Burglarized, and It Wasn’t a Prank
It happened Halloween night and only four days before the election, but even so, police said that probably had nothing to do with it.
Someone kicked in a window at Republican Headquarters, 471 N. Newport Ave., ransacked the office and took what money was to be found--about $100, according to Goldie Joseph, an office volunteer.
“Whether it was politically inspired or theft, we don’t know yet,” Joseph said.
But Police Lt. Jim Carson said the break-in was “definitely not politically motivated.”
There was “just general ransacking, but no words painted on the walls or anything to indicate it was politically motived.”
Perhaps a Halloween prank?
“I wouldn’t think so,” Carson said. “I think it was a run-of-the-mill burglary.”
